When Maumoon Abdull Qayyoom was elected as a president of MALDIVES during 1978 some times he drive's car him self.
One my friend who works in MULIAAGE (presidential Palace) & looks after back up electric gen set, he explained me very often Qayyoom visits Sheykh Mohamed Rasheed Ibrahim residence.
On his way to Muliaage Qayyom stop his car in front of Muliaage GARAAJU behind Muliaage & he will talk to the staffs & specially he checks about there tea & foods during night duty. Before November 3rd TERROR ATTACK to Maldives he drive his without body guards & his driver.
Today reality is security alert is very common but His Excellency Mohmed Nasheed attend some functions by walk & with first lady he walks on road's with few PS.
The Maldivian young generation smile & they feel WOW about his unique life style as a president specially compare to ex president.
Presently there is no road blocks for president LIMO & Close protection agents when he moves to president office. He walks from office to Palace.
This may contribute to cost cut or ZERO Carbon.
